Miami & Erie Canal and Cincinnati Subway
0198_DSC_1513
Miami & Erie Canal underneath the former Big Four, now Norfolk Southern Railroad, south of Miamisburg, looking southwest towards Dayton Cincinnati Pike. After the 1913 flood, the Big Four bypassed Franklin via Carlisle and two bridges over the Great Miami River. Here it comes back to its original route, but because of the shallow angle they had to build this complicated viaduct over the canal. the two-span skewed through Pratt truss bridge is over the roadway.
