NYC/CCC&St. L - New York Central/Big Four, CIND Subdivision - Indiana & Ohio, CIND Subdivision
0060_1914_reconstruction
Historic photo of destroyed bridge piers and new temporary spans over the Great Miami River after the 1913 flood, looking east towards Cleves. From left to right there is a wooden pile bridge for the highway and CL&A, where electrical overhead can be seen. The destroyed piers of the ca. 1883 bridge are strewn about to its right, although the west span of the old bridge survived and was reused, hence the slight bend in the pile bridge at the extreme left. The shaky looking railroad track at right is a temporary work track for the Big Four, whose new concrete bridge piers are in place to the right, and a single-track wood pile bridge for the mainline is at the far right.
From the collection of Earl Clark, Jr., provided by Bill Van Doren.
