The Forest Queen in Winter, a painting by Martin Andreas Reisner, depicts Mt. Adams and the Little Miami Railroad along the bank of the Ohio River in 1857, looking north from Newport, Kentucky. The Kilgour house is the white house highest up the hill, having been modified from its original state with a full second floor. It remained at that location until the 1950s when it was demolished to build the 3rd Street Distributor connecting Columbia Parkway to Ft. Washington Way. Note the terraced vineyards along the slopes of Mt. Adams and what is probably Monastery Street climbing up the hill on the left.
