B&O - Baltimore & Ohio to Columbus - Indiana & Ohio, Midland Subdivision
0028_1922copy3
Historic aerial of Crosley Field in the West End along Western Avenue, looking northwest. Note the streetcars at the right on Western Avenue, heading towards Spring Grove Avenue going off to the right near the top. Tracks continuing straight go to the old at-grade Harrison Avenue, but those were likely abandoned or just used for storage of cars for Reds games since the 1908 Harrison Avenue Viaduct at the top was built to eliminate several railroad crossings. That viaduct would be replaced in the early 1930s by the Western Hills Viaduct as part of the massive Union Terminal project. At the extreme top center of the photo is Queen City Avenue crossing Mill Creek, which used to continue all the way to Spring Grove Avenue, but now only a tiny section called Buck Street remains east of the creek. The long curving wooden trestle at the left is the C&O of Indiana coming down the hill into the Mill Creek Valley. Trains from the left center going towards Western Avenue and the Harrison Avenue Viaduct are the top end of the McLean Yards of the Cincinnati Southern Railway. The B&O Midland has a yard under the viaduct, and the CH&D is barely visible on the other side of Mill Creek
