Streetcar Routes & Revealed Tracks
0001_DSC_0712
The location of a streetcar stop on Woodburn Avenue in East Walnut Hills, looking north towards Madison Road. St. Francis DeSales is the church in the distance. Notice how the street gets about 18" wider just past the lamp post on the right, then narrows back again at the first parked car. That indicates that there was a streetcar stop here, and the curb line was pushed outward to allow room for cars and wagons to bypass the passenger loading platform that flanked the tracks in the middle of the street. Since today's bus stops are usually in the same place as the original streetcar stop, these little alcoves provide some extra room for the bus to pull over to the side.
